During laser hair removal, thelaser emits an infrared light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles. This destroys or delays future hair growth.
The laser can only target hairs with medium-brown to black pigmentation. It will have no effect on blonde, white, grey or red hairs.
The hairs can only be destroyed when they are in the ANAGEN (growth phase). Therefore, multiple treatments are needed.
Some hairs that are dark and course in nature will purge or "pop out" on contact. The majority will shed out during the next 2-4 weeks. YOU WILL THINK WE ARE LIARS ;) It will appear that new hairs are growing. Rest assured, they are not. These are dead hairs that are making their way out of the follicle. Gently exfoliate the areas that were treated with a washcloth or loofah.
You will notice that 85-95% of hairs will shed post-treatment. Don't worry about a little patch here or there... we will get it at your next treatment!
Your hairs will be reduced after each treatment. Remember, not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time, and we can only kill hairs in the anagen (growth) phase. With that being said, not all treatments will have the same "WOW factor". Your results will be cumulative.
